Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree slams haters on Twitter

November 18, 2020

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree fired back at online critics Wednesday, who compared it to the slumped-over sapling featured on “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

The towering holiday bough looked less than jolly after it arrived from Oneonta, N.Y. on Saturday — with tied-up branches giving it a pathetic, droopy appearance.

This led to a wave of bullying from internet trolls — leaving the “tree” in no mood deal with that .

“Wow, you all must look great right after a two-day drive, huh? Just wait until I get my lights on!” Rockefeller Center tweeted in the voice of the 75-foot Norway Spruce.

The online comments were so cutting even a tree that had just been chopped down felt the sting.

“Could the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree look any worse? 2020 on brand,” Twitter user Rex Chapman slammed.

Another teased, “In 2020, we all get the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree and that’s just how it is.”

Others quipped that the tree looked like it couldn’t find a good barber during lockdown.

“In true 2020 form, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree looks like it tried to cut its own hair,” another user wrote.

But Rockefeller Center Christmas Twitter account defended the tree, saying it will soon be fluffed out — and spruced up.

“See you on December 2!” the account tweeted, with winkie-face emoji, in a reference to the scheduled tree lighting.

Last week, the Macy’s tree in Cincinnati became the subject of the internet’s ire after it arrived with mopey, slumped over branches.
